Early Years
Staff
We have a team of three staff who work within EYFS and are allocated to groups of children as their key worker:
Mrs Wightman - EYFS teacher
Miss Waite - HLTA
Mrs Gates - TA
Mrs Alp is the Early Years Lead.
Intent
At our school, we believe that every child deserves the very best start in life. Our EYFS curriculum is designed to be inclusive, ambitious and responsive, ensuring all children feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
Our intent is to:
- Instill an early love of learning.
- Develop communication and language.
- Close gaps in learning through early identification and targeted support.
- Provide rich experiences that widen children's understanding of the world and increase aspirations.
- Prepare children for a successful transition to Year 1.
Implementation
Our EYFS provision is carefully planned to meet the diverse needs of our children.
- High-quality interactions are at the heart of teaching, with adults modelling language, extending vocabulary and supporting play.
- The curriculum is progressive and sequenced, ensuring knowledge and skills build over time.
- Adaptations to the curriculum are made that link to children's interests.
- Ongoing assessment and observations are made to inform next steps.
Impact
As a result of our EYFS provision, children make good progress from their starting points. They have growing communication, language and social skills which supports their entry into Year 1.
Results for GLD are improving year on year.
