History

Intent

Our History curriculum inspires curiosity about the past and enables pupils to understand chronology, cause and consequence and the ways in which history shapes the present, using the Kapow platform and directly linked to the National Curriculum.  We have designed the curriculum to highlight local history so that students can celebrate their community.

Implementation

Units are structured to explore key historical concepts and build disciplinary skills such as inquiry, interpretation and evidence evaluation. Learning is sequenced to deepen understanding across year groups as part of a spiral curriculum design.

Impact

Pupils recall and connect historical knowledge accurately, use historical vocabulary confidently and think like historians when analysing sources and explaining past events.
