Music

Intent

Our Music curriculum aims to foster a lifelong enjoyment of music through listening, composing and performing. It builds secure musical knowledge and skills, including rhythm, pitch, structure and notation, as outlined in the National Curriculum. 

Implementation

Staff use the Kapow platform to teach lessons which are practical and inclusive, offering performance opportunities, expert modelling and a range of musical genres. Skills build progressively with regular retrieval practice.

We also offer enrichment visits to local musical events and expect our children to actively engage in our weekly music assemblies, culminating in termly performances.  

Impact

Pupils demonstrate confidence in performing and composing, use music vocabulary accurately and show progression in musical understanding and creativity.
